GUSA Constitutional Council to Hear Suit Against 272 Referendum (The Hoya)
The Georgetown University Student Association’s Constitutional Council will address a suit filed by two students that seeks to overturn the results of last week’s referendum to establish a semesterly fee that would go toward a fund benefiting the descendants of the GU272.

(Full Disclosure: Saydlowski currently serves on The Hoya’s Editorial Board). The Constitutional Council is collecting documents from Saydlowski and Castaldi-Moller, GUSA and the Ethics and Oversight Committee, and the general public before hearing oral arguments at its hearing Wednesday. No, Joe Scarborough, Spying On Trump Wasn’t Done ‘By The Book’ (The Federalist)
When Attorney General William Barr acknowledged the Donald Trump campaign was spied on in 2016 by agencies investigating a dramatic conspiracy theory about alleged collusion with Russia, and said he’d like to review the matter, those who pushed the theory began to panic.
Some media figures attempted to deny that spying had occurred, even though it had been revealed in various and sundry ways. They conceded that overseas intelligence assets had been placed against the campaign, that wiretaps had been secured, and that national security letters had been drafted, but they claimed these examples of spying were not spying. Maya MacGuineas, the president of independent and bipartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, warned on “Fox and Friends” Tuesday morning that Bernie Sanders’ proposed policies could cost $20,000 per taxpayer.
“If you look at healthcare, free tuition, family leave, child care – those proposals will all have a price tag of over $20,000 per taxpayer,” MacGuineas said.
“I don’t know whether they plan to finance all of that or add that to the very large national debt, but the costs are certainly high. I know trillion is kind of hard to get your arms around. But when you bring it down per taxpayer, we are talking more than $20,000 increase in taxes.” [Read More]
