Police: 14-Year-Old Girl Threatened 3 Maryland Schools

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. – Police in Maryland say a 14-year-old girl threatened mass violence against three area schools.

Prince George’s County police say the girl was arrested Wednesday on charges including making threats of mass violence.

Police say she admitted to writing a series of emails threatening two high schools and a middle school. One of the emails included obscene photos, leading her to also be charged with possession of obscene matter with the intent to distribute it.

Police say the girl didn’t have the means to carry out her threats, but the threats required a robust public safety response and frightened the public. Police Chief Hank Stawinski says the girl’s home was searched and her computer equipment was seized.

It’s unclear if the girl has a lawyer. Authorities didn’t immediately release her identity.
