6am – D/E/F CARAVAN NEWS

  • President Donald Trump on Sunday warned Mexico it ‘would be very smart’ if the country stopped migrant caravans ‘long before’ they get to the U.S. border and said there would be ‘no crossings!’
  • According to outlines of the plan, known as Remain in Mexico, asylum applicants at the border will have to stay in Mexico while their cases are processed, potentially ending the system Trump decries as “catch and release” that has until now generally allowed those seeking refuge to wait on safer U.S. soil.
  • “There is no agreement of any sort between the incoming Mexican government and the S. government,” future Interior Minister Olga Sanchez said in a statement. That ran contrary to The Post’s account of the agreement with the incoming administration of Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, who takes office Dec. 1.
  • On Saturday, the first episode of caravan-related violence directed at S. authorities was reported by U.S. Border Patrol in Arizona, as a 31-year-old Honduran man who apparently split off from the caravan threw rocks at agents and a helicopter after setting a tree on fire.
  • Sunday U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials have suspended northbound and southbound vehicle and pedestrian crossings at the San Ysidro port of entry, officials told Fox News.
  • Tear gas was being fired from the S. side of the border after some migrants threw what appeared to be rocks at U.S. authorities. Children were screaming and coughing in the mayhem.
