BORDER AGENTS: ROCK-THROWING MIGRANTS PUSHED WOMEN AND CHILDREN TO FRONT OF HORDE (The Daily Caller)
Border Patrol agents revealed in interviews that the migrants storming the U.S.-Mexico border over the weekend were using women and children as human shields as they launched rocks at agents.Border Patrol unleashed tear gas and pepper balls to disperse the crowd of migrants trying to cross the border in Tijuana, Mexico on Sunday. According to San Diego Chief Border Patrol Agent Rodney Scott, agents did not use dispersion techniques until after migrants had struck several agents with projectiles.
“Several agents were actually struck by rocks,” Scott said, before revealing that the migrants pushed women and children to the front of their group to discourage agents from responding to rock-throwing with force. [Read More]
Twitter Banned Me For Literally No Reason, But In The End They’ll Lose (The Federalist)
“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.”—Every third grader
I try my best not to complain about the curveballs of life that come my way, but I wish people understood the tremendous burden that comes with being a clairvoyant genius who sees the future. You see, Twitter banned my account yesterday. They did not suspend it. They banned it.
I had almost 80,000 followers and those poor people are now left aimlessly wandering the social media landscape in search of a greatness they’ll never find again. Now, I don’t really care because I’m just going to start a new account and it will be even better than my last one (if that’s possible). This isn’t about me. This is about what kind of country we have become and what kind of country we want to be. [Read More]
The Washington Post Claims There’s A ‘Surge’ In Right-Wing Violence. There Isn’t (The Federalist)
A new Washington Post “analysis” of domestic terrorism argues that attacks from white supremacists and other “far-right attackers” have been on the rise since Barack Obama’s presidency, and “surged since President [Donald] Trump took office.” It’s a familiar storyline meant to assure liberals that, yes, Trump-motivated right-wing terrorists are running wild. There are, however, a few problems with this proposition.
For one thing, even if we accept the numbers the Post offers, the use of the word “surge” — meaning a sudden, powerful forward or upward movement — strains credibility. There’s no evidence of a “surge” either in historical context or as a matter of ideological preference. But even if we’re okay with replacing “uptick” with the word “surge,” a cynic might note that the Post’s reporters seem to filibuster their own findings to push preconceived partisan notions about the state of the nation. Former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos reported to a Wisconsin prison Monday to begin serving a 14-day prison sentence for lying to FBI agents about his interactions with Russian intermediaries during the 2016 presidential campaign, officials confirmed to Fox News.
Papadopoulos is set to serve his sentence at a medium-security federal facility in Oxford, about an hour’s drive north of Madison. [Read More]
JEROME CORSI SAYS HE WILL REJECT PLEA OFFER FROM MUELLER’S TEAM (The Daily Caller)
Jerome Corsi, a right-wing author and associate of Trump confidant Roger Stone’s, said Monday that he will reject a plea offer from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s office in the Russia probe.Corsi told One America News Network (OANN) and NBC News that he will reject the offer to plead guilty to perjury regarding his testimony about WikiLeaks and its founder, Julian Assange.
“The Mueller team offered me a plea bargain … it does not mean I’ve agreed. From what they’ve offered, I can tell you it’s unacceptable,” Corsi told OANN. “I will not sign a statement in front of a federal judge that says that I intentionally and willfully lied to the special counselor, because I did not.” [Read More]
The greatest threat to American journalism: the loss of neutral reporting (The Hill)
Over the past several months, I’ve watched, read and heard much about the potential Armageddon facing the profession of journalism.
I’ve watched colleagues proclaim that “fake news” attacks by President Trump, crowd chants of “enemies” and the expulsion of CNN’s Jim Acosta from the White House press room pose the greatest threats to news reporting in history.
I respectfully disagree. [Read More]
The top Border Patrol official in San Diego, Calif., on Monday said his federal agents had to use tear gas against members of a migrant group because they assaulted law enforcement personnel while trying to break through the barrier.
“When the threat is to our personnel or to protect others, you gotta do what you gotta do,” San Diego Sector Chief Patrol Agent Rodney Scott told CNN about migrants’ weekend attempt to storm the border near the San Ysidro port of entry. “What we saw over and over yesterday is that the group, the caravan as we call them, would push women and children to the front and then begin basically rocking our agents.”
“The group immediately started throwing rocks and debris at our agents, taunting the agents, and once our agents were assaulted, and the numbers started growing, we had two or three agents at a time initially facing hundreds of people at a time, they deployed tear gas to protect themselves and to protect the border,” Scott said.
