Vogue Claims ‘White Women’ Are Voting ‘Against Their Own Interests’ by Voting Republican (PJ Media)

If you want to know how out of touch progressives have become, look no further than Vogue magazine. In an article for the magazine published last week, contributing editor Michelle Ruiz asks this mind-numbingly obtuse question: “Why do white women keep voting for the GOP and against their own interests?” How, Ruiz wants to know, could women possibly vote for candidates who are “passionately pro-life” over candidates who are “staunch protector[s] of women’s reproductive rights”? Surely, Ruiz laments, all women ought to be in favor of “a right to health care, to choose what’s best for our bodies, [and] that our children should be safe at school” (in other words, abortion rights and gun control). Voting against these things, Ruiz says, is “unsisterly.” [Read More]

House GOP picks Kevin McCarthy as leader (Washington Examiner)

House Republicans, soon to be relegated to the minority, picked Rep. Kevin McCarthy to stay on as their party leader in the 116th Congress by a vote of 159-43 in a closed-door GOP vote.

McCarthy, R-Calif., will replace retiring Speaker Paul Ryan as the top House Republican, but he won’t inherit the gavel.

As minority leader, he’ll oversee a much smaller GOP conference which will have very little power beginning in January. [Read More]

Gov. Brown blames climate ‘deniers’ for worsening wildfires – Scientific evidence refutes him: ‘Less fire today than centuries ago’ – Wildfires are NOT due to ‘climate change’ – Book Excerpt (Climate Depot)

California Governor Jerry Brown is blaming “climate deniers” for more California’s devastating wildfires despite the overwhelming scientific evidence that wildfires are not historically worse or caused by “global warming.” See:

Jerry Brown: Climate-Change Deniers ‘Definitely Contributing’ to the ‘New Abnormal’ of Wildfires– California Gov. We split the housework, but somehow my husband still ended up as the ‘fun’ parent (The Washington Post)

My daughter has a Disney princess coloring book because she’s obsessed with Disney princesses. I have tried to stop despairing this, because the noise of our culture’s gender messaging to children is often deafening, and there are only so many thoughtful questions I can pose to her about the work princesses do and the values they might hold. I asked her once what she thought a princess was, and she said, “Someone who likes to dance and have fun.” Flipping through her coloring book, I can’t dispute that. [Read More]

Migrant caravan groups arrive by hundreds at US border (Yahoo)

Migrants in a caravan of Central Americans scrambled Wednesday to reach the U.S. border, arriving by the hundreds in Tijuana, while U.S. authorities across the border were readying razor wire security barriers.

Mexican officials in Tijuana were struggling to deal with a group of 357 migrants who arrived aboard nine buses Tuesday and another group of 398 that arrived Wednesday.

“Mexico has been excellent; we have no complaint about Mexico. The United States remains to be seen,” said Josue Vargas, a migrant from Honduras who finally pulled into Tijuana Wednesday after more than a month on the road. [Read More]
