Migrant caravan coordinator says demand for Mexico to provide buses has ‘failed’ (FOX News)

The leading migrant caravan trying to make its way to the United States border is admitting defeat after asking the Mexican government to provide dozens of buses to speed up the group’s journey northward.

The setback comes days after caravan leaders asked for “safe and dignified” transport to Mexico City, a checkpoint along the way for a group that has been dwindling in size as members either apply for protected status in Mexico or drop out over fatigue exacerbated by the sweltering weather conditions they have been facing. New poll shows why Trump’s ‘enemy of the people’ attacks on the media work (Washington Examiner)

President Trump said in a newly released interview that his attacks on the media played a decisive role in getting him elected, and a new poll provides insight into why the “enemy of the people” rhetoric (which he insists is only meant for “fake news”) actually works to his political advantage.

In a clip from an upcoming Axios special on HBO, Trump says this about his “enemy” description and fierce attacks on the media: ” I wouldn’t be [in the White House] if I didn’t do that.”

The comments come on the same day as the release of a new Morning Consult/Politico polltaken in the wake of mail bombs being sent to Trump critics and partially in the aftermath of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting. In the days that followed the events, the media was dominated by stories, analysis, and commentary shining the light on Trump’s divisive rhetoric, while Trump himself put the spotlight on the media for pulling people apart. CNN isn’t commenting about Don Lemon’s statement that white men represent the biggest terrorist threat in the country.

Lemon’s statement, on his show Monday, attracted criticism in conservative circles. He was talking about the negative attention given to a caravan of potential refugees in Central America. Meanwhile, white men are the suspects in recent shootings of two blacks in Kentucky and at a synagogue in Pittsburgh.

Lemon said that, “we have to stop demonizing people and realize that the biggest terror threat in this country is white men, most of them radicalized to the right, and we have to start doing something about them.” [Read More]

Law enforcement is not just a way to deal with individual violators but also a way to remind society at large that there can be no civilization without legality.

What makes citizens obey the law is not always their sterling character. Instead, fear of punishment — the shame of arrest, fines, or imprisonment — more often makes us comply with laws. Law enforcement is not just a way to deal with individual violators but also a way to remind society at large that there can be no civilization without legality. [Read More]
