Sex-Crimes Prosecutor Details 12 Massive Inconsistencies In Kavanaugh Accuser’s Story (The Federalist)
The sex crimes prosecutor who questioned Christine Blasey Ford about her allegations of sexual assault against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh has released a memo detailing inconsistencies in Ford’s testimony.
“I do not think that a reasonable prosecutor would bring this case based on the evidence before the Committee,” Rachel Mitchell wrote in a five-page-long memo obtained by The Washington Post. “A ‘he said, she said’ case is incredibly difficult to prove. But this case is even weaker than that.” [Read More]
McConnell says Senate to vote on Kavanaugh ‘this week’ (The Washington Times)
Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Monday that the Senate will vote “this week” on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, seemingly putting a firm deadline on the new FBI background investigation.“The time for endless delay and obstruction has come to a close. Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination is out of committee. We’re considering it here on the floor,” Mr. McConnell said. “We’ll be voting this week.”
Republicans had hoped to have the judge installed on the high court by this week, in time for the Supreme Court’s new term which opened Monday.
Instead, he remains in limbo after several women came forward late in the confirmation process to accuse him of sexual misconduct during his high school and college years in the 1980s. [Read More]

By contrast, Democratic nominee Marc Elrich, her fellow council member, has an equally lengthy record — and, in many cases, an extreme one — that is disqualifying. [Read More]
Trump heralds eleventh-hour trade deal with Canada: ‘A historic transaction!’ (Washington Times)
President Trump on Monday cheered the trade deal the U.S. struck with Canada, which had held out joining the new NAFTA agreed to by Mexico.
“Late last night, our deadline, we reached a wonderful new Trade Deal with Canada, to be added into the deal already reached with Mexico,” the president trumpeted on Twitter.
Mr. Trump will hold a press conference at 11 a.m. to formally announced the deal that replaces the North American Free Trade Agreement with the United States Mexico Canada Agreement or USMCA.
“It is a great deal for all three countries, solves the many deficiencies and mistakes in NAFTA, greatly opens markets to our Farmers and Manufacturers, reduces Trade Barriers to the U.S. and will bring all three Great Nations together in competition with the rest of the world. The USMCA is a historic transaction!” the president said in a series of tweets.
“Congratulations to Mexico and Canada!” he added. [Read More]
