Dems make new demands on Kavanaugh hearing, as Republicans cry foul (FOX News)
Democratic senators on Tuesday escalated their demands regarding a hearing to examine the sexual assault allegation against Brett Kavanaugh — suggesting Monday’s scheduled public session with the Supreme Court nominee and his accuser is not enough, calling for more witnesses and more time for the FBI to dig into the allegations.
Much remains up in the air, with the allegation threatening to sideline the nomination days before Kavanaugh was slated for a floor vote.
Right now, the FBI apparently is not investigating further despite Democratic demands. And it’s not clear the hearing announced by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, is even going forward. He scheduled a hearing for Monday, but said accuser Christine Blasey Ford has not responded to the invitation and threatened to nix the session if she doesn’t. [Read More]

Emmy Ratings Plummet 10 Percent to All-Time Low (Mediaite)
Monday night’s broadcast of the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards was a ratings dud.
According to NBC (via Entertainment Weekly), the telecast drew a 7.4 rating. That number is down 10 percent from last year’s 8.2 — which tied with 2016 for what had previously been the least-watched Emmys in history.
The show, hosted by Saturday Night Live stars Michael Che and Colin Jost, appeared to get very little traction on social media. Arguably the lone viral moment came when award-winner Glenn Weiss proposed marriage to his girlfriend Jan Svendson during his acceptance speech. [Read More]

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT TRUMP’S DECLASSIFICATION ORDER (The Daily Caller)
President Donald Trump’s order to immediately declassify FBI and Department of Justice (DOJ) documents related to the Russia investigation will provide an unprecedented look into the government’s investigation of the Trump campaign.
Trump on Monday identified four categories of documents for declassification and release.
He ordered the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the DOJ to declassify information in a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) application against former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. He also ordered the release of notes the FBI took during interviews as part of its collusion investigation. Trump called on the FBI and DOJ to release a slew of text messages from James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page and Bruce Ohr. [Read More]
