Farewell statement from John McCain (Fox News)
The following farewell statement from the late Sen. John McCain was read aloud Monday at a press conference in Phoenix, by his former campaign manager Rick Davis:
“My fellow Americans, whom I have gratefully served for sixty years, and especially my fellow Arizonans,
“Thank you for the privilege of serving you and for the rewarding life that service in uniform and in public office has allowed me to lead. I have tried to serve our country honorably. I have made mistakes, but I hope my love for America will be weighed favorably against them.
“I have often observed that I am the luckiest person on earth. I feel that way even now as I prepare for the end of my life. I have loved my life, all of it. I have had experiences, adventures and friendships enough for ten satisfying lives, and I am so thankful. Like most people, I have regrets. But I would not trade a day of my life, in good or bad times, for the best day of anyone else’s. [Read More]
US and Mexico close to reaching NAFTA deal, sources say (Fox News)
The United States and Mexico look close to resolving key differences on the North American Free Trade Agreement and may have a complete deal worked out by as early as Monday, according to sources close to the talks.
Three people familiar with the progress told Bloomberg that there have been significant breakthroughs over the past few days on issues ranging from automobiles to energy, although it is unclear if any of the progress will be made public as Mexico’s Economy Minister Ildefonso Guajardo has said the country won’t make an announcement on NAFTA until Canada also signs on to a new deal.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said Sunday morning that the administration has “no announcements or anything finalized at this time,” despite President Trump’s enthusiastic tweet on Saturday that there could be a “big Trade Agreement” soon. [Read More]

Rep. Al Green: “Trump Should Be Impeached For Harming Society” (Hot Air)
I’m sorry, America. Let me apologize to conservatives and other sane people across the country for the verbal lunacy flowing from the mouths of some Houston Democrats. Friday’s case in point: Rep. Al Green. I do not live in his district but I cringe along with the rest of the country when he opines about Republicans in general, President Trump specifically. It’s embarrassing.
Let me refresh your memory because you likely are not familiar with the name. He’s a long-time backbencher known most recently for bringing the drumbeat for the impeachment of President Trump. He filed articles of impeachment in October 2017 in the House and his plea continues to this day. The 70-year-old 7 term congressman says the president doesn’t have to commit a crime to be impeached and Trump needs to be impeached because he is “harming society.” Here is a clip from his interview with the far-left radio network, Democracy Now. North Carolina boy punished for calling teacher ‘ma’am’ at school, report says (USA Today)
A 10-year-old boy in North Carolina was punished last week for referring to his female teacher as “ma’am.” The incident left his parents both concerned and confused, they told WTVD-TV.
Teretha Wilson noticed her son, Tamarion, seemed upset after leaving the bus Aug. 21 from his school in the town of Tarboro, she told the station. “I asked him what happened. He said he got in trouble for saying ‘yes ma’am’,” Wilson told WTVD’s Michael Perchick.
Tarboro, a town of about nearly 10,900, according to Census population estimates in July 2017, is about 62 miles east of Raleigh, North Carolina. [Read More]
A fake Warren ‘Buffet’ is going Twitter viral with life advice (Yahoo)
A fake Warren Buffett Twitter account went viral early Monday morning, getting hundreds of thousands of retweets and likes for various self-help-style messages.
“WarrenBuffet99,” whose avatar is a photo of a smiling Warren Buffett, began tweeting Saturday, but has already been tweeting at a fast pace. As of publication, there were two dozen tweets and counting.
The real Buffett, the billionaire investor and Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A, BRK.B) CEO has two t’s in his name and is not a frequent user of the platform, tweeting just once in 2016, about Yahoo Finance’s livestream of the Berkshire Annual Meeting, and twice the year before.
“A number of fake Twitter accounts, often with one T, have been discovered,” said a Buffett spokesperson. “Mr. Buffett does not plan to tweet. The few tweets on his official account have been done by a friend of his.” [Read More]
The Democratic National Committee voted Saturday to curb the power of so-called “superdelegates,” limiting how influential major members of the Democratic Party — and major donors — are in selecting the party’s presidential candidate.
Superdelegates make up around 15% of all voting DNC delegates and “include governors, members of Congress, mayors and others.” [Read More]
