5am – A/B/C ‘Unite the Right’ march triggers tension, Antifa clashes, hundreds of counterprotesters (Fox News) – Hundreds of counterprotesters, including Antifa, confronted a group of white-nationalist demonstrators Sunday at the so-called “Unite the Right II” march toward the White House — and many pushed back as officers tried to clear the area in the evening, triggering scuffles. A passing thunderstorm forced the far-right demonstrators to break down their rally stage in Lafayette Park near the White House prematurely, but as police escorted them from the area, reports of Antifa resistance emerged. Some 200 anti-fascists, many of them wearing black masks, confronted police about a half-mile from the White House as officers shoved them back, The Associated Press reported.
5am – D More than 100 newspapers will publish editorials decrying Trump’s anti-press rhetoric (CNN) – That’s the idea behind an unusual editorial-writing initiative that has enlisted scores of newspapers across America. The Boston Globe has been contacting newspaper editorial boards and proposing a “coordinated response” to President Trump’s escalating “enemy of the people” rhetoric.
5am – E Jackson Park trees cut down near Obama Center site despite lawsuit, promises (Chicago Sun-Times) – The city and Chicago Park District are cutting down trees in Jackson Park – in a project related to the Obama Presidential Center – despite a pending lawsuit, city and federal approvals still needed and a pledge from the Obama Foundation CEO to keep trees intact until the permitting process is complete. The Chicago Park District is digging up baseball fields in Jackson Park south of the proposed Obama Center complex.

The administration reportedly wants to block Manigault Newman from releasing any more tapes and punish her for the recording she revealed on NBC’s “Meet the Press” earlier Sunday, which was taped during Kelly’s firing of her back in December.
7am – A/B INTERVIEW – Joe diGenova – legal analyst and former U.S. Attorney to the District of Columbia – discussed latest Mueller news and Omarosa tapes
7am – C Petition calls on Chick-fil-A to bring chain restaurants to U.S. military bases (Fox News) – Emily Carby, a senior airman at Colorado’s Buckley Air Force Base, is all for eating more chicken. That’s why she created a now viral Change.org petition that calls on Chick-fil-A to bring the restaurant to military bases across the country for the first time. (Currently, a total of 2,200 name-brand fast food restaurants — such as Subway, Church’s Chicken and Captain D’s — can be found on U.S. military bases, according to the Panama City News Herald).

7am – E Sea-Tac air traffic controller faced ‘one in a million’ scenario with stolen plane (Seattle Times) – The air traffic controllers for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport are trained to perform under pressure. Every day, they guide scores of planes through the wind and rain. But negotiating with a ground-crew member flying upside down above Puget Sound is normally not part of the job description. Yet that was the scenario Friday night, after Horizon Air employee Richard Russell somehow managed to take off in an empty plane.

The tape, which was played exclusively Monday on “Today,” appears to show Trump having no idea that Newman had been dismissed by his Chief of Staff John Kelly.
