Mayor Bowser Announces Reward Increase For Public’s Help In Solving Murder Of 10-Year-Old Girl

WASHINGTON – Mayor Muriel Bowser announced a $20,000 increase in the reward on Monday for information to prosecute those responsible for the murder of 10-year-old Makiyah Wilson of D.C.

The announcement came during a joint press conference between Mayor Bowser and D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham, along with other safety personnel.

“That reward now stands at 45,000 dollars,” stated Mayor Bowser regarding the reward’s increase from $25,000. The FBI helped contribute to the reward’s increase, according to Mayor Bowser.

“We need desperately for the public to come forward with any information that they have that may lead to justice for Makiyah and her family.”

Police Chief Newsham recounted the events that took place earlier this month and lead up to Makiyah’s death when five armed, masked men drove into the block and fired at residents outside in Clay Terrace neighborhood.

A funeral was held for Makiyah last week.
