5am – A/B/C Trump’s ready to hit China with crushing tariffs on $500 billion worth of exports (Daily Caller) – President Donald Trump revealed in an interview aired Friday that he is “ready” to put tariffs on every Chinese good coming into the U.S. if necessary.  “I’m ready to go to 500,” Trump told CNBC’s Joe Kernen in a “Squawk Box” interview. “I’m not doing this for politics, I’m doing this to do the right thing for our country. We have been ripped off by China for a long time.”

5am – D Attorney General Jeff Sessions repeats ‘lock her up’ chant (CNN) – Attorney General Jeff Sessions, the top law enforcement officer in the country, repeated the words “lock her up” Tuesday that were being chanted, a rallying cry from Donald Trump campaign events calling to jail Hillary Clinton, and then laughed.  Sessions was addressing a conservative group’s high school leadership summit in Washington, where he promoted free speech and conservative principles.

5am – E  Ivanka Trump’s fashion company is shutting down (Page Six) – Ivanka Trump’s clothing and shoes company is folding, Page Six has exclusively learned.  Sources say that it will be shuttered “ASAP” and that staff have been informed that they’re being laid off.  In a statement to Page Six, Ivanka said, “When we first started this brand, no one could have predicted the success that we would achieve. After 17 months in Washington, I do not know when or if I will ever return to the business, but I do know that my focus for the foreseeable future will be the work I am doing here in Washington, so making this decision now is the only fair outcome for my team and partners.”

6am – A/B Exclusive: CNN obtains secret Trump-Cohen tape (CNN) – Presidential candidate Donald Trump is heard on tape discussing with his attorney Michael Cohen how they would buy the rights to a Playboy model’s story about an alleged affair Trump had with her years earlier, according to the audio recording of the conversation aired exclusively on CNN’s “Cuomo Prime Time.”  The recording offers the public a glimpse at the confidential discussions between Trump and Cohen, and it confirms the man who now occupies the Oval Office had contemporaneous knowledge of a proposal to buy the rights to the story of Karen McDougal, a woman who has alleged she had an extramarital affair with Trump about a decade ago.

6am – C Liberal 9th circuit backs right to carry firearms in public, in latest pro-2nd Amendment ruling (Fox News) – The liberal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals endorsed the right of individuals to carry firearms in public in a ruling Tuesday, striking down a lower court argument that the Constitution only protects that right at home.  “Analyzing the text of the Second Amendment and reviewing the relevant history, including founding-era treatises and nineteenth century case law, the panel stated that it was unpersuaded by the county’s and the state’s argument that the Second Amendment only has force within the home,” the ruling states.

6am – D Make an AR-15 at home: 3D printed ‘downloadable guns’ available Aug. (USA Today) – Americans will soon be able to make 3D-printed guns from their homes, widening the door to do-it-yourself versions of firearms.  The choices will include the AR-15, the gun of choice in American mass shootings. All 3D-printed guns will be untraceable, and since you can make them yourself, no background check is required.

6am – E ICE sweep nets 132 illegal immigrants in D.C. area (Washington Times) – ICE officers nabbed 132 illegal immigrants in the Washington metropolitan region in an enforcement sweep this month, including a high-ranking MS-13 member, a convicted child rapist and other serious criminals, the agency announced Tuesday.  The operation, which ran from July 9 to 20, targeted criminals, but U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers said that if they also encountered other illegal immigrants during their sweep they reserved the right to deport them, too.

6am – F The View: Abby Huntsman and Ana Navarro are top candidates to replace Sara Haines (People) – As Sara Haines says goodbye to The View, two well-known on-air personalities are already being considered for spots on the daytime talk show.  Haines is expected to join Michael Strahan as co-host of Good Morning America‘s new third hour, starting on Sept. 10, and discussions about her potential replacement are already underway.  PEOPLE has learned that Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Abby Huntsman and regular CNN contributor Ana Navarro are at the top of the list of contenders for Haines’ replacement. If chosen, they would join current co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Meghan McCain at the table.

7am – A Fusion GPS doubted the credibility of a major dossier source (Daily Caller) – The veracity of the Steele dossier is once again a topic of intense debate following the Justice Department’s release of secret warrants that the FBI used to monitor former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page. The four applications, which were obtained under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), show that the bureau relied heavily on the dossier, which was funded by the Clinton campaign and DNC, to obtain the warrants, which accused Page of being a secret Kremlin agent.  But not only do many of the allegations in the dossier remain unverified, there is reason to doubt the credibility of a major source for the 35-page document, including for claims that the Kremlin has blackmail material on President Donald Trump and about Page’s alleged involvement in a collusion conspiracy.

7am – B California DMV worker slept on the job for three years, audit says (Sacramento Bee) – A California DMV data operator slept three hours a day at her desk for three years, and the department failed to take disciplinary action — despite complaints from her colleagues, according to an audit released Tuesday.  Four witnesses told investigators from the California State Auditor’s office that the DMV employee consistently slept at her desk. The auditor estimated the employee misused 2,200 hours of work time between February 2014 and December 2017.

7am – C Proposed bill would toss Calif. Servers in jail for providing plastic straws unless asked (WCVB ABC Boston) – A California lawmaker is taking flak for a measure that would make it illegal for servers to offer plastic straws with drinks unless they’re asked.  Assembly Majority Leader Ian Calderon introduced a bill last week making unsolicited straw-providing a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. However, Calderon says it will be amended to eliminate the penalties.

7am – D ‘Get rid of ICE’: Immigration, guns and Medicare for all are top Dem priorities, Gillibrand says (The Blaze) – Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), a potential candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, said the “first thing” Democrats should try to do if they take control of Congress is to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to Hot Air.  It’s a message that establishment Democrats have largely shied away from, and one that isn’t extremely popular among voters, but Gillibrand has been one of the first and strongest advocates for it.

7am – E McCaskill campaign hit with report on husband’s federal subsidy windfall (Fox News) – Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill was hit with another politically damaging report Tuesday when her local newspaper revealed businesses tied to her husband have gotten more than $131 million in federal subsidies since she took office.  Husband Joseph Shepard doesn’t personally pocket that money. But he has benefited from profits from the housing projects he’s invested in that received those subsidies.

8am – A Trump’s ready to hit China with crushing tariffs on $500 billion worth of exports (Daily Caller) – President Donald Trump revealed in an interview aired Friday that he is “ready” to put tariffs on every Chinese good coming into the U.S. if necessary.  “I’m ready to go to 500,” Trump told CNBC’s Joe Kernen in a “Squawk Box” interview. “I’m not doing this for politics, I’m doing this to do the right thing for our country. We have been ripped off by China for a long time.”

8am – B Exclusive: CNN obtains secret Trump-Cohen tape (CNN) – Presidential candidate Donald Trump is heard on tape discussing with his attorney Michael Cohen how they would buy the rights to a Playboy model’s story about an alleged affair Trump had with her years earlier, according to the audio recording of the conversation aired exclusively on CNN’s “Cuomo Prime Time.”  The recording offers the public a glimpse at the confidential discussions between Trump and Cohen, and it confirms the man who now occupies the Oval Office had contemporaneous knowledge of a proposal to buy the rights to the story of Karen McDougal, a woman who has alleged she had an extramarital affair with Trump about a decade ago.

8am – C Metro employee stabs man who reportedly tried to attack her, was ‘angry due to delayed service’ (DCist.com) – A Metro employee stabbed and critically injured a man who entered the manager’s kiosk at the Friendship Heights Station and reportedly attempted to attack her, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. The incident occurred shortly after midnight on Tuesday.  The man was “angry due to delayed service,” and he hit the woman in the arm, according to the police report filed after the incident. The Metro employee, “in fear for their life and in defense of their self, stabbed the suspect in the chest with a pocket knife,” the report continues.

8am – D/E INTERVIEW – Mike Lindell – CEO of My Pillow – discussed the rise of My Pillow as a businessman and Trump supporter
