A waiter at a Texas steakhouse made up the viral story about a customer leaving him a racist note, his employer said Monday. The story gained national attention after Khalil Cavil, a 20-year-old server for Saltgrass Steak House in Odessa, Texas, posted a now-deleted image of the receipt he claimed was left for him on July 14.On the bill, Khalil’s name was circled and the words, “we don’t tip terrorist,” were written at the top.Cavil wrote in his post, which was deleted as of Tuesday morning: “I share this because I want people to understand that this racism, and this hatred still exists. Colleges ask for a share of future salary in lieu of loans (AP)

As more students balk at the debt loads they face after graduation, some colleges are offering an alternative: We’ll pay your tuition if you offer us a percentage of your future salary.

Norwich University announced Tuesday that it will become the latest school to offer this type of contract, known as an income share agreement. Norwich’s program is starting out on a small scale, mainly for students who do not have access to other types of loans or those who are taking longer than the traditional eight semesters to finish their degree. The CW’s Supergirl is making some important TV history.

The DC Comics drama has enlisted transgender activist and actress Nicole Maines to play TV’s first transgender superhero.

Maines will join the fourth season of the Warner Bros. TV-produced drama as Nia Nal (aka Dreamer), a character described as a soulful young transgender woman with a fierce drive to protect others. Police: Iowa football player arrested after drunkenly mistaking cop car for Uber (The Washington Post)

A University of Iowa football player was arrested early Saturday morning after police said he drunkenly mistook one of their cruisers for an Uber car. Hawkeyes Coach Kirk Ferentz subsequently suspended defensive tackle Brady Reiff for the team’s season opener against Northern Illinois.

“I’m not pleased about what we learned about Brady Reiff this weekend,” Ferentz said Monday at a Big Ten media days session (via ESPN). “Had a chance to visit with him today.
