WASHINGTON (WMAL) – A member of the Prince George’s County Board of Education has filed a temporary stay away order and second degree assault charge against the board’s chair.

“My board chair pushed me against the wall and threatened to “[expletive] me up” after the meeting tonight…. because he was mad about my comments on giving Kevin Maxwell 800k,” Edward Burroughs wrote in a Facebook after Thursday’s board meeting. At that meeting Burroughs called for chair Segun Eubanks to resign following a vote to pay superintendent Kevin Maxwell $800,000 to leave before his contract’s up.

At the meeting Burroughs said the deal with Maxwell wasn’t in the best interest of the school district. He also echoed his colleague David Murray’s sentiments that to turn a new leaf in Prince George’s County Public Schools, Eubanks would need to step down.

In charging documents from the State’s Attorney for Prince George’s County, Burroughs wrote Eubanks pinned him against the wall, leaving him unable to move without getting into “a full fight.” He also wrote he sits on the same board as Eubanks

“I do not feel safe with him there,” Burroughs wrote.

Eubanks did not respond to WMAL’s requests for comment.

Court documents say there will be a hearing in the District Court for Prince George’s County Monday about the temporary stay away order.
