WASHINGTON – House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer is spending this Independence day in the hospital. The 79 year old was admitted to George Washington University Hospital Tuesday with a case of pneumonia.
Katie Grant, Hoyer’s communications director and senior advisor, released the following statement:
“Mr. Hoyer was admitted to the George Washington University Hospital yesterday and was diagnosed with pneumococcal pneumonia. He is being treated with antibiotics and resting, and is expected to make a full recovery quickly. He looks forward to being back at work very soon.”
Hoyer represents Maryland’s 5th congressional district, and has been serving as Minority Whip since 2011.
