Supreme Court Upholds Travel Ban in Trump v. Hawaii Ruling (Breitbart)

The Supreme Court ruled in favor of President Trump and his immigration policy across the board in a 5-4 decision on Tuesday, holding that the permanent entry restrictions from various terror-prone nations codified in Presidential Proclamation 9645 is fully consistent with Congress’s Immigration and Nationality Act as well as the Establishment Clause of the U.S. Constitution.

Chief Justice John Roberts wrote for the majority that admission and exclusion of foreign nationals is a “fundamental sovereign attribute exercised by the Government’s political departments largely immune from judicial control,” quoting from an earlier case, and that the president has extraordinarily broad discretion under 8 U.S.C. § 1182(f) to exclude aliens when he believes doing so is in the nation’s interests. EnVision Centers (HUD)

Under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump, the Administration is committed to reforming government services and expanding opportunities for more Americans to become self-sufficient. The EnVision Center demonstration will offer HUD-assisted families access to support services that can help them achieve self-sufficiency, thereby making scarce federal resources more readily available to a greater number of households currently waiting to receive HUD assistance.

The EnVision Centers demonstration is premised on the notion that financial support alone is insufficient to solve the problem of poverty.  Intentional and collective efforts across a diverse set of organizations are needed to implement a holistic approach to foster long-lasting self-sufficiency.  EnVision Centers will provide communities with a centralized hub for support in the following four pillars:  (1) Economic Empowerment, (2) Educational Advancement, (3) Health and Wellness, and (4) Character and Leadership.  The Economic Empowerment pillar is designed to improve the economic sustainability of individuals residing in HUD-assisted housing by empowering them with opportunities to improve their economic outlook.  The Education pillar seeks to bring educational opportunities directly to HUD-assisted housing and includes partnering with public and private organizations that approach education in non-traditional ways on non-traditional platforms.  The Health and Wellness pillar is designed to improve access to health outcomes by individuals and families living in HUD-assisted housing.  The Character and Leadership pillar is designed to enable all individuals and families residing in HUD-assisted housing, especially young people, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens by encouraging participation in volunteer and mentoring opportunities. Late-Night Has No Pity For Sarah Huckabee Sanders After Being ‘Separated From Her Appetizer’ In Restaurant Fiasco (Too Fab)

President Donald Trump’s press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, was kicked out of The Red Hen restaurant in Virginia over the weekend — and late-night comedians could not wait to get their hands on the story on Monday night during their respective shows.

Stephanie Wilkinson, owner of The Red Hen, was reportedly informed of Sanders’ presence by her employees and allowed them to vote on whether or not the polarizing politician could stay. Wilkinson told The Washington Post she then asked Sanders to leave because Sanders “works for an inhumane and unethical administration.” Sanders reportedly offered to pay for the cheese plate she and her group had already eaten, but Wilkinson declined the offer. Sanders left, later tweeting, “[Wilkinson’s] actions say far more about her than about me. I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so.”

Trump also tweeted about the ordeal, writing, “The Red Hen restaurant should focus more on cleaning its filthy windows (badly needs a paint job) rather than refusing to serve a fine person like Sarah Huckabee Sanders. I always had a rule — if a restaurant if dirty on the outside, it is dirty on the inside!” [Read More]

Seven Mysterious Preludes to the FBI’s Trump-Russia Probe (Real Clear Investigations)

The Federal Bureau of Investigation formally opened its Trump investigation after Western intelligence assets and Clinton-affiliated political operatives repeatedly approached the Trump campaign and tried but failed to damage it through associations with Russia, a growing body of evidence suggests.
Before the FBI began investigating the Trump campaign in an operation code-named “Crossfire Hurricane,” there were at least seven different instances when campaign advisers were approached with Russia-related offers. Most of those contacts — including Donald Trump Jr.’s much-publicized meeting with a Russian lawyer and others in June 2016 — offered the prospect of information damaging to Donald Trump’s Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton.

Two of these approaches were made by one U.S. government informant already publicly identified as such, Stefan Halper. Another was made by a man who swore in court that he had worked as an FBI informant. Two others were made by figures associated with Western intelligence agencies. Another two approaches included political operatives, one foreign, with ties to the Clintons. [Read More]

Virginia judge rules against Paul Manafort, will let fraud case continue (The Washington Post)

The prosecution of President Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort will go forward in federal court in Virginia, a judge ruled Tuesday.

U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III made waves in May when he grilled prosecutors from the special counsel’s office, questioning whether bank and tax fraud crimes Manafort is accused of committing were outside the scope of their investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election.
