Dem candidate in Kansas slammed for poster of Wonder Woman lassoing cop (Fox News)
The Democratic-backed candidate running for Kansas State Attorney General has been called on by her own party to drop out because of a poster hung in her law office that depicts Wonder Woman lassoing a police officer around the neck.
Attorney Sarah Swain apologized after she was criticized heavily by law enforcement groups, who argued that the image promoted violence against police officers.
The state Democratic Party agreed, adding that the poster is grounds for disqualification for the attorney general’s office. [Read More]
Southern Poverty Law Center Facing Dozens Of Potential Lawsuits For ‘Hate Group’ Label (Daily Wire)
Following a $3.4 million settlement for defamation, the floodgates appear to have officially opened on the partisan Southern Poverty Law Center for its reckless use of its “hate group” and “extremist” designations. According to PJ Media’s Tyler O’Neil, at least 60 organizations that the self-styled “hate group watchdog” has branded as “extremist” are now considering taking legal action.
“No fewer than 60 organizations branded ‘hate groups’ or otherwise attacked by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) are considering legal action against the left-wing smear factory, a Christian legal nonprofit leader confirmed to PJ Media on Tuesday,” O’Neil reported. [Read More]
White House considering executive action to prevent family separations at border (Fox News)
The White House is considering executive action to allow children to stay with parents caught crossing the border illegally, Fox News has learned — a step that could avoid the family separations that have triggered a national outcry and political crisis for Republicans.
The action under consideration would allow children to stay in detention with parents for an extended period of time. This comes as congressional Republicans scramble to draft legislation to address the same issue, but face challenges mustering the votes.
The separations stem from the administration’s “zero tolerance” immigration policy, which aims to prosecute all illegal border crossers. But because of a 1997 order and related decisions, children cannot be detained for longer than 20 days with the adults. [Read More]
D.C. voters approve Initiative 77, raising minimum wage for tipped workers (WJLA)
On Tuesday night, D.C. voters approved Initiative 77, which will raise the minimum wage for tipped workers like servers and bartenders. The ballot measure, which was by far the most controversial issue of the D.C. Primary, passed with 55 percent of the vote.
Initiative 77 will require restaurants to gradually increase the minimum wage for tipped employees so that they, like other workers in the District, will eventually make $15 an hour. [Read More]
