ALBANY, Ind. – Garfield is celebrating his 40th birthday Tuesday with a new book, a film in progress and another TV series, according to news release by Garfield.com.
Jim Davis, the creator of Garfield, has commemorated the iconic orange tabby’s big 4-0 with a new book called “Age Happens: Garfield Hits the Big 4-0.”
The lasagna-loving cat has captivated audiences for the past decades from his sarcasm in the comic strips to his role in a TV series called “The Garfield Show.”
“Later this year, an all-new animated series of 120 30-second shorts titled Garfield Originals will be released for digital and broadcast, and Garfield’s original TV series from the 80s and 90s, Garfield and Friends, will make a comeback fully remastered in HD and UHD,” according to Garfield.com.
Garfield got his start in only 41 newspapers on June 19, 1978, but then grew exponentially in popularity, appearing in over 2,100 newspapers. And as time progressed, Garfield adapted to changing technology, appearing on Garfield game apps and on social media.
