MANASSAS, Va. — All but two Manassas City Public Schools no longer remain on lockdown Tuesday evening while police continue to investigate the area near Round Elementary School, according to Manassas City Police Sgt. Rust.

“Approximately at 1 p.m., Manassas City Police received a call from Prince William County Emergency Communications Center advising that they received a 911 call from an unknown male stating he had a gun and that he was experiencing a mental health crisis near a Manassas City public school,” said Sgt. Rust.

He said the phone call was disconnected before Prince William County Police could obtain any more information.

After receiving the information from Prince William County Police, Sgt. Rust said that all Manassas City Public Schools implemented a lockdown.

“There is no report of injuries, all children are safe, and at no point did any one witness a subject with a gun near the city schools,” he said.

The two schools that remain on lockdown could not be disclosed as the areas are still being investigated in response to the suspicious activity.
