WOODBRIDGE, VA — (WMAL) Two girls, ages 10 and 11, have been charged as juveniles for plotting via text to kill a third girl. All three girls are students at a Prince William County elementary school.

According to a police report, investigators were brought into the case after a parent reported the incident to school staff. Police discovered that the two girls used cryptic language in their texts, and encouraged each other to delete their threat-related messages once they were read.

No threat was ever carried out.

After consulting with prosecutors, police say they were directed to charge each girl with one count of conspiracy to commit a felony. The girls were charged last Friday.

They are awaiting a court date. The police report did not indicate the students’ current status at school.
