WASHINGTON — A naked man disrupted the early morning Red Line commute Thursday, riding in several cars of a train, and assaulting two other passengers before being taken into custody.
Passengers say the man was first seen on a train at Gallery Place at around 5:30 AM. He exited and then re-entered into another car on the same train at Metro Center, and again at Farragut North. As passengers moved to avoid him, the man punched at least one passenger.
Phillip Banks, a commuter who captured the assault on video, told Fox 5 the man exited and tried to re-enter the train at Dupont Circle.
“He attempted to get back on the train we were on, but another guy and I wouldn’t allow him to get back on the train. There were a bunch of elderly ladies on the train, so we weren’t having that,” he said.
A Metro spokesman says Metro transit police officers used a stun gun to subdue the man and take him into custody.
The assault victims are not believed to have been seriously hurt.
