Former Montgomery County Public Schools Employee Charged with Sexual Abuse

MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, Md.– A former teaching assistant at a Maryland elementary school has been charged with sex abuse for an incident involving a 7-year-old girl during the 2010-11 school year.

Montgomery County Police announced charges Monday against 58-year-old Hector Toro of Germantown.

According to police a 15-year-old girl came forward last month and reported an incident that happened to her as a second-grader at Stedwick Elementary in Montgomery Village. The girl said Toro was supervising recess and allowed her to reach into his pocket to search for candy.

Police say they interviewed Toro and he confirmed that he frequently let kids reach for candy he hid in his pockets.

Detectives are asking parents of other potential victims to contact them.

Online court records do not list an attorney for Toro.
