RICHMOND, Va. (AP) – Former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe is headed to the classroom.
George Mason University announced Monday that McAuliffe will join the school as a visiting professor.
McAuliffe left office earlier this year and is often mentioned as a possible Democratic presidential hopeful in 2020. He is a vocal critic of President Donald Trump.
The former governor is currently helping raise money for the National Democratic Redistricting Committee and has said he plans to help elect Democratic governors nationwide this year.
George Mason says McAuliffe’s duties will include leading “a series of policy forums” on various issues.
University spokesman Damian Cristodero said the position pays $60,000 a year and McAuliffe is planning to donate his salary to charity.
