WASHINGTON — The District and surrounding areas are currently under a Winter Storm Warning. Tonight, temperatures are expected to drop to the lower thirties and we will see a light drizzle and possibly some light snow that will start late this afternoon into the evening. “We’re not looking at any accumulations, little of any sleet, for this afternoon” says Steven Zubrick, a meterologist from the National Weather Service.
Wednesday, snow accumulation is expected, starting in the morning and continuing into the late afternoon. “The potential is to get five or more inches of snow in the DC area” says Zubrick. Counties North and West of the District, such as Montgomery County and Western Loudoun County, should accumulate more. Virginia has the potential of accumulating more than five inches of snow.
“These early spring winter storms can have a few surprises, this is a storm we need to watch.” warns Zubrick.
