McDonald’s has flipped its logo upside down in honor of International Women’s Day, March 8, but Twitter users are chastising the fast-food giant for not doing more.

Mickey D’s turned its iconic golden arches into a “W” for “women” across its digital channels, select packaging and the sign outside its Lynwood, Calif., location, which has been owned and operated by staffer Patricia Williams for three decades, the company confirmed to Fox News via press release. Republicans say the results in this week’s primary in Texas raise serious doubts about the blue wave that Democrats are counting in the November midterm elections.

While Democratic turnout was high, so was GOP turnout on Tuesday, giving the party confidence that its troops have not been demoralized.

Md. Gov. Larry Hogan against arming teachers, open to armed, trained resource officers (WJLA)

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan says he has ideas on how to prevent school shootings in the state, but arming teachers is not one of them.

The day after the Parkland High School massacre in Florida, a student at Clarksburg High School in Maryland was arrested and accused of bringing a loaded gun to class.

Eighteen-year-old Alwin Chen reportedly told police that he regularly concealed firearms in school, even wearing body armor to “protect himself.” This week the governor is praising school officials and law-enforcement and has made it very clear he is against arming classroom teachers, supports banning bump stocks and is endorsing legislation to remove firearms from those convicted of domestic violence. Fairfax County NAACP wants reform to School Resource Officers program at county schools (Fox 5 DC)

The Fairfax County NAACP is demanding reform for the School Resource Officers program at a time when the country is on edge in the aftermath of the deadly mass school shooting in Florida.

Parkland kids can protest, but they don’t know what they are talking about (USA Today)

Later this month, high school kids will hold big demonstrations in Washington and elsewhere to demand gun control in the wake of the Parkland shootings. That’s fine by me. I disagree with the thrust of what they want to do as a matter of policy, but it’s a free country.

My problem is with the resurgence of an old American tradition of celebrating young people as inherently wiser and more moral than adults. There are really three problems with the fetishization of youth in politics. First it’s based on a faulty premise: That young people have a radically or uniquely superior insight into political affairs.

This is an ancient confusion. It usually hinges misinterpreting the fact that young people see the world with fresh eyes, as it were. [Read More]
