Senate Republicans are heading toward midterm elections with control of their chamber and the biggest advantage any majority party has had since 1790. Yet every week, the Democrats are allowed to work just 2.5 days before returning home to duke it out with their Republican challengers. At the conclusion of Bedford’s interview, O’Connor suggested Richard Grenell, President Trump’s nominee for ambassador to Germany, should be the the first nominee Mitch McConnell brings forth to be confirmed. In his monologue, O’Connor points out the outrageous claim that President Trump doesn’t like gay individuals – even though he has nominated Grenell, who is openly gay.

O’Connor: Wouldn’t the nomination of Richard Grenell go a long way Republicans to dispelling that? Don’t you think that Democrats, the last thing the Democrats want is a very public, very competent, professional like Richard Grenell… You remember Richard Grenell, he was the spokesman for the allied coalition over in Iraq, during the Iraq War. His national security bonafides are immense. He would be an incredibly critical ambassador to Germany, a very important country with regard to Russia and with regard to our national security interest with the war on terror and radical Islamic terrorism.. and right now we have no one.
