NSA shooting: Police shoot, stop SUV at Fort Meade security gate (Baltimore Sun)

The driver of a black SUV attempted to access the NSA campus at Fort Meade, prompting police to fire on the vehicle before it struck a concrete barrier at the Anne Arundel County installation, federal officials said.

NSA officials said “several individuals” were taken to hospitals, but that initial information indicates none of the injuries were a result of gunfire.

The FBI is investigating.

The incident took place around 7 a.m. at the Canine Road gate, where authorities surrounded a handcuffed man after a black SUV ran into a concrete barrier. [Read More]

Shaun White Apologizes for Dragging American Flag (NBC New York)

Snowboarder Shaun White apologized Wednesday for dragging a U.S. flag on the snow after his dramatic gold medal victory in the men’s halfpipe, but said he did not know he had let the flag touch the ground.

 “I remember being handed the flag but I was trying to put my gloves on and hold the flag and get board,” he told reporters afterward. “Honestly, if there was anything, I definitely didn’t mean any disrespect.” [Read More]

4 Montgomery County cities rank in Top 10 of most ethnically diverse in America, study says (Fox 5 DC)

Four of the top ten ethnically diverse cities in the United States reside in Montgomery County in Maryland.

According to WalletHub, Gaithersburg, Germantown and Silver Spring rank second, third and fourth respectively in terms of diversity. Rockville finished ninth on the list.

Jersey City, New Jersey finished as the most culturally diverse city while Parkersburg, West Virginia finished at the bottom of the 501 most-populated cities in the country. [Read More]
