Sadly, this is CNN.
CNN personalities already blame virtually everything on President Trump and now the network has floated a theory that the earth could be jeopardized by an asteroid because of the government shutdown — but don’t worry, experts have already dubunked the fake news.
CNN correspondent Tom Foreman said on “The Lead with Jake Tapper” that NASA could potentially stop monitoring asteroids during the shutdown.
“A big one, by the way, is expected to brush by Earth on February 4,” Foreman said on Friday’s show. [Read More]
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell opened the Senate Monday by repeating an offer to Democrats that, in exchange for their vote to reopen the partially shuttered government, he would bring a bill to the floor by next month that would protect Dreamers.
“It would be my intention to take up legislation here in the Senate that would address [Dreamers], border security and related issues as well as defense funding, healthcare, and other important matters,” the Kentucky Republican said.
Metro reports delays, photos show fire on tracks at Pentagon City station (Fox 5 DC)
There are reports of a fire on the tracks inside the Pentagon City Metro station, and WMATA reports delays for both Yellow and Blue Line passengers due to “unscheduled track repairs” at the station.
Photos tweeted by passengers show flames on the tracks inside what is reportedly the Pentagon City station.

Metro tweeted that both the Crystal City and Pentagon City stations are closed, but just before 10:15 a.m., they tweeted that regular service was resuming. Residual delays are expected. [Read More]

Why it matters: The GOP is banking its 2018 hopes on the tax law, and while it’s far from universally popular it is making a difference. A 5-point deficit is still bad, though at least the sky isn’t falling. One thing that should be worrying: that CNN poll has those excited about turning out for the midterms favoring Democrats by 15 points. [Read More]
