Just In Time For The Afternoon Rush Hour – SNOW

STERLING — Your morning commute will be fine, but the Friday rush hour getting home could be a beast.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Washington and points to the north and east from 1 pm to 7 pm on Friday.

A weak clipper system that will generate right over Washington is expected to drop an inch or so of snow, starting just after the lunch hour and continuing through the evening rush.

Areas to the northeast of town could see a bit more, while points west, such as Fairfax and Loudoun Counties, could see a bit less.

National Weather Service Senior Meteorologist Howard Silverman tells WMAL the ground will be plenty cold enough so that anything that falls should stick.

“Anticipate snow and perhaps icy roads for the afternoon commute,” says Silverman. “Everyone should plan for it to be a little bit ugly.”
