WASHINGTON (WMAL) – Prosecutors want to throw the book at a man charged with killing his pregnant girlfriend if he’s convicted. Court documents show that Montgomery County State’s Attorney John McCarthy will pursue a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole for Tyler Tessier.
Tessier is charged with first degree murder in the death of his pregnant girlfriend and Howard County teacher Laura Wallen. Tessier will not face charges in the death of Wallen’s unborn child because the baby was too young to be viable outside the woman when Wallen died.
Police said Tessier brought Wallen to a field in Damascus in September where he shot her in the head.
Tessier was engaged to another woman when Wallen was killed. Court documents said each woman believed Tessier was dating her exclusively.
Tessier is scheduled to go on trial for Wallen’s murder April 9 in Montgomery County Circuit Court.
