NPR Anchor Protests: We Weren’t Openly Biased Like Jorge Ramos! [Newsbusters]

Even when conservatives express their view that any adult male who seeks out underage girls is a “pervert,” they will still be questioned for suggesting the liberal media has a partisan tilt. National Public Radio’s AllThings Considered has been rotating come fresh conservative pundits on their Week in Review segments on Fridays, and Orange County Register columnist John Phillips said things that David Brooks never says — that the media aren’t trusted because they advocate for the liberal side. That drew a laughable reply from NPR anchor Kelly McEvers. She denied they had an openly anti-Trump, anti-Republican bias.

Perhaps she meant we weren’t openly anti-Trump. We denied it suggested we were objective, and expected people to buy that, despite our anti-Trump reporting. Denying the obvious doesn’t make you more professional. [Read More]

Byron York: Did dossier trigger the Trump-Russia probe? [Washington Examiner]

The FBI opened a counterintelligence investigation into the Trump-Russia affair shortly after receiving the first installment of an anti-Trump dossier from a former British spy working for the Hillary Clinton campaign. What congressional investigators want to know is whether that was a coincidence or not.

The first report in the dossier compiled by former MI6 agent Christopher Steele was dated June 20, 2016. [Read More]

Terry McAuliffe’s 2020 bid looks stronger after Virginia election sweep [Washington Examiner]

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, who has been stuck at the bottom of all the 2020 presidential polls, saw his political stock soar last week when his party scored huge election victories, cementing his legacy and giving him a platform to run on.

“Certainly Tuesday night was a triumph for McAuliffe, who looks like a potential if not likely presidential contender. His pitch is simple: ‘We took on Trump in Virginia and won,’” said Kyle Kondik, the managing editor of the University of Virginia’s Center for Politics Sabato Crystal Ball.

While an anti-Trump wave certainly helped Democratic Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam succeed McAuliffe, several insiders credit the governor with restoring a broken party organization and keeping many of his promises for the big win. [Read More]

Renting homes is overtaking the housing market. Here’s why [USA Today]

Single-family rentals — either detached homes or townhomes — are developing faster than any other portion of the housing market. These rentals outpace both single-family home purchases and apartment-style living, according to the Urban Institute.

“Almost all the housing demand in recent years has been filled by rental units,” says Sara Strochak, a research assistant with the Urban Institute. She also states that single-family rentals have gone up 30% within the last three years. [Read More]

Roy Moore is ‘unfit’ for office, Maryland’s Republican governor says [Washington Post]

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) delivered his harshest criticism to date against a fellow Republican early Saturday, calling for Alabama candidate Roy Moore to withdraw from the U.S. Senate special election and breaking the silence of his state party.

Maryland Republicans, including U.S. Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.) — who endorsed Moore — were mum this past week after The Washington Post reported that the then-Alabama district attorney is alleged to have initiated a sexual encounter with a 14-year-old girl when he was in his 30s.

Moore attended Veterans Day political events in his district on Saturday, in… [Read More]

Vandals target MoCo Republican Party HQ with signs calling on patriots to take back nation [WJLA]

Members of the Montgomery County Republican Party believe they are the victims of a hate crime.

Around 1 p.m. Sunday, volunteer Brad Botwin arrived at the party’s modest headquarter offices along Crabbs Branch Road in Rockville. Four illustrated flyers taped to the front door and façade caught him by surprise.

“They put this on like this it was wallpaper, so it’s really put on there to stay. It’s now part of our front door,” Botwin stated.

One flyer included a map of the United States accompanied by the words “NOT STOLEN, CONQUERED.” Another called on “PATRIOTS!” to “be among those who will reconquer their birthright, and forge a new America.” [Read More]
