Marilou Danley: What we know about Las Vegas gunman’s companion (Fox News)
The one person who can provide insight into the Las Vegas killer’s warped mind — and potential motive — remained out of reach of U.S. authorities Tuesday. But they want to talk to her. Soon.
Marilou Danley, the Las Vegas shooter’s live-in girlfriend who left the country before Stephen Paddock gunned down 59 people outside the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, was cleared as a “person of interest” in the immediate aftermath of the shooting, but there’s still plenty of questions officials hope she can answer. NFL Owners Clashed in Private Over Protests (Wall Street Journal)
The National Football League’s more muted approach in recent days to responding to attacks from President Donald Trump followed a tense meeting last week in which several owners argued the league’s combative stance was unproductive, according to three people familiar with the meeting.
Those owners argued that taking on a sitting president over whether players should be required to stand for the national anthem was bad for business, while others thought the league should continue to stand up to the criticism, these people said.
The disagreement is a contrast to the message of unity that NFL owners and players have tried to project over the previous eight days, as Trump took on the league over the protests and repeatedly disparaged the state of the game. [Read More]
ISIS Persists in Vegas Claim, Dubs Shooter ‘Abu Abdul Bar al-Amriki’ (PJ Media)
After federal officials announced today that they saw no nexus to international terrorism in the Las Vegas Strip massacre, the Islamic State doubled down with their claim that Stephen Paddock was theirs — even granting the Mesquite, Nev., resident a nom de guerre.
ISIS claimed through their Amaq news agency this morning that the “Las Vegas attacker is a soldier of the Islamic State who carried out the attack in response to calls for targeting coalition countries.” They claimed he had converted to Islam recently.
They issued the claim in various languages, without evidence to back it up. [Read More]

U.S. Expels 15 Officials from Cuban Embassy After Bizarre Attacks (Bloomberg)
The Trump administration ordered the expulsion of 15 officials from Cuba’s embassy in Washington over the government’s failure to protect 22 U.S. citizens who were subjected to a series of unexplained health attacks in recent months.
The decision is aimed at keeping parity in staffing levels after the U.S. ordered more than half its diplomats and their families to leave the island Sept. 29 following the unexplained incidents, which left staff with hearing loss, cognitive issues and difficulty sleeping, a State Department official, who asked not to be identified, briefed reporters. Trump ahead of Reagan’s record in cutting regulations (Washington Examiner)
President Trump is keeping his promise to cut regulations and is on a course to top former President Reagan’s record of slashing the mountain of red tape created by Jimmy Carter, according to two independent reports.
The Competitive Enterprise Institute said that Trump has issued 58 percent fewer major and costly regulations than former President Obama and slashed the Federal Register, the government’s rule book, by 32 percent. [Read More]
