LAUREL, MD (WMAL) — The Intercounty Connector (ICC) was dedicated by Maryland Governor Larry Hogan to former Governor Bob Ehrlich at a ceremony today.
The ceremony, which took place alongside the ICC, celebrates the completion of the project which links 270 in Montgomery County to 95 in Prince Georges County. t
The project was first conceived back in the 1950’s and was partially opened in 2011 and finally completed in 2014.
Governor hogan credited Ehrlich’s focus on the project to make it a priority as well as Ehrlich’s work across the aisle to make the connector a reality.
Former Governor Ehrlich gave credit to the bush administration for helping get the federal funding needed as well.
Responding to criticism the ICC is “under-used”, Governor Hogan said usage is up 110 percent since June of 2012.
