Listen as Larry spoke with Dr. Sebastian Gorka, President Trump’s Deputy Assistant, regarding the President’s handle on North Korea.
During the interview, Dr. Gorka addressed the media misconstruing his comments about Secretary Tillerson:
O’Connor: There’s also, the President today, when he was fielding questions from reporters in Bridgewater, New Jersey, he had to deal with this question that there were multiple narratives, conflicting statements coming out of the White House because they’re in some way suggesting what Secretary of State Tillerson said as the Chief Diplomat for the Trump administration was at odds with what Secretary of Defense Mattis said and what the President himself said and you’re getting dragged into this too. I read from Politico that they’re saying, that The Washington Post is reporting, that you refer to Secretary Tillerson’s comments as “nonsensical” and I don’t want to put words in your mouth, but that’s what The Washington Post… can you clear some of this up in terms of what the messaging is?
Gorka: Yeah. This goes back to a BBC interview I gave last night, BBC Radio 4, which of course I recorded the audio of because I expected this kind of thing to happen. I think we can rename Politico, “Fake News HQ”. My comment was that it was nonsensical for journalists not to understand the different roles that the Secretary of State, the Secretary of Defense, and the Commander in Chief have. Rex Tillerson is our Consulate Diplomat of the highest rank. He, along with Ambassador Haley, created the incredible result of the unanimous 15-0 vote of the United Nations. But to force him into a position where he has to qualify the military scenarios that we may or may not use means that Politico, means that The Washington Post simply doesn’t understand the difference between the Secretary of State and a Secretary of Defense and that, that is incredible. Don’t you think?
O’Connor: And so the quote that they’re attributing to you, “the idea”, and I’m quoting them now, ‘”the idea that Secretary Tillerson is going to discuss military matters is simply nonsensical”. The nonsensical that you’re referring to was the journalist were suggesting that Tillerson…
Gorka: Yes!
O’Connor: I see.
Gorka: [laughing] Exactly.
O’Connor: Well, that’s pretty typical.
Gorka: In the age of fake news, the mainstream media, fake news industrial complex that’s twist and twisted. So the bottomline here is Larry, people are allowing there political agendas to trump national security. That’s very, very dangerous. Politico, Huffington Post, Washington Post, New York Times, CNN need to look themselves in the mirror and ask themselves. what’s more important your political agenda of the safety of this nation. And I think there’s only one right answer to that question.
