LISTEN: The Forgotten Man: Alan Hoyt of Lusby, Maryland

After being heard around the world sharing his frustration with the media’s obsession with Russia, Alan reappeared on The Larry O’Connor Show. Listen as Larry spoke with Alan Hoyt of Lusby, MD regarding his daily struggle to make both ends meet.

During the phone call, Hoyt shared his latest hardship:

O’Connor: Has anyone reached out to you? Has anyone figured out who you are?

Hoyt: No sir.

O’Connor: Do you want people to know who you are?

Hoyt: Well, I can use all the help. Larry, here’s the kicker. This is how the plot thickens. I just got a letter from the IRS and the Maryland Comptroller’s office. I claim my 17-year-old son on my taxes as a child credit. And he got himself a little job, made himself a little $1,400 last year and he was so proud to file his taxes. I just got letters saying I got to pay back my child credit money, to tell me I owe $2,400 because he got a job and went to work and I can’t understand this. I didn’t use the right form. He’s 17-years-old, I claimed him and he got a job making a little bit of money and now they’re telling me to pay them back $2,600. I don’t understand this. We need a tax form the size of a postcard [inaudible]. I mean this is ridiculous. I guess they’re done with the big fish, now they’re going after the little fish. And it took this long. It was crazy how I got both letters at the same time. It’s like the state and the federal is in cahoots with each other. Just because my son had a little part time job, made $1,400, I’m not allowed to claim him? And I got to pay them back $2,600? This is crazy.

Hoyt continued saying:

Hoyt: I don’t know what else to say Larry. I’m just a regular American. I’m like so many other millions of people out here, but they don’t hear our voice. And they don’t care. It’s always about getting re-elected. It’s about staying in office, staying in power and I wish there were term limits. I mean it’s just … We’re out here trying our best and we’re the ones that’s putting the money into the coffers and they’re just squandering it and our debt’s going out of control and it’s all on our backs.
