NEW YORK – (WMAL) Major League Baseball officials have upheld the six-game suspension for San Francisco Giants pitcher Hunter Strickland in the May 29 incident at AT&T Park involving Bryce harper and the Washington Nationals. Strickland will begin serving the suspension tonight.
Strickland was suspended six games and Harper four, later reduced to three, after Harper was hit by a pitch on the hip and charged the mound. Both got a punch in as the benches cleared. It was later surmised that Strickland had hit Harper as retaliation for home runs Harper had hit off of Strickland in a playoff series in 2014. The Giants went on to win the World Series.
