During the interview, Secretary Carson revealed whether he wanted to run for office again:
O’Connor: Are you going to run for office again?
Sec. Carson: I don’t have any intention of doing that. I want to make sure that this administration is very successful. And I don’t really have any desire … never had the desire, I only did it because of people demanding that I’d do it. But it’s so important that we get important things accomplished because we were really going off in the wrong direction. We were about to go off the cliff and as Thomas Jefferson predicted, just before we turned into something else, the people of America would recognize what they were about to lose and they would stand up and do the right thing. That happened but now we have a responsibility to make sure that they did it in good faith.
