FAIRFAX COUNTY — (WMAL) Fairfax County Firefighters rescued a 60-pound dog that was stuck under its family’s deck for two days.

A family member called for help June 1 after hearing whines coming from behind the house and suspecting the missing dog was trapped.

After removing slabs from the deck and digging trough gravel, firefighters found the dog’s foot and tail. They were able to give the dog a bowl of water while they removed gravel until it was freed.

The dog, “Banx,” was dehydrated and lightly bruised, but returned to the family after a medical assessment by Loudoun County Animal Control.

Firefighters guess that the dog was chasing a small animal when it got stuck under the deck. It then began to dig in an attempt to escape but was only trapped further.
