LISTEN: DANA PERINO: The Trump Campaign Could Have Wrapped Up The Comey Story in 48 Hours, Their Handling of The Dismissal Made It Worse

Listen as Larry spoke with Former Press Secretary to George W. Bush and co-host of The Five on Fox News, Dana Perino, regarding President Trump’s decision to fire James Comey, Trump’s communication’s department and more.

During the interview, Perino addressed the recent news of James Comey being let go as FBI Director.

O’Connor: The media was unrelentingly tough on the Bush White House. From that perspective, what do you make of what we’re seeing now in these daily briefings?

Perino: I guess, in some ways, it helped me develop a thicker skin. I recognize that there is media bias. Even when I was in graduate school and I got my first job at CBS News and I actually left it within a year because I didn’t know media bias existed like that. I couldn’t stand it. But I also think that Republicans often just use it as a crutch and there are ways to get around it. Partially that is just by having better ideas and being really knitted up and tight and having a story that is nice and solid and follow the process because the process can work for you. They could have wrapped this up in 48 hours and now I think that they have just obviously made it worse. Not just by Monday’s account, but now we’re into Thursday and the President contradicted everything he asked his Communications department to go out and say. Their credibility takes a hit.
