Listen as Larry O’Connor chats with Sen. Mike Lee regarding his speech, Conservatism for the Forgotten Man’.
During the interview, Senator Lee described the idea of the ‘forgotten man’:
Sen Lee: Okay, so a lot of things that have happened in Washington are geared around big, wealthy interest. Large corporations are very wealthy people. Some of the other things that happened in Washington are focused on the most vulnerable among us. Sometimes in the process of focusing on all these government programs, we forget about the heart and soul, the lifeblood of the American economy – which is its robust middle class. We forget about the hard working moms and dads working hard just to put bread on the table, to try to keep their families fed and keep a roof over their heads. And it’s these people who I think were at the heart of what happened in the 2016 election cycle. They brought this enormous victory to President Trump and I think it’s time that we start focusing once again on the forgotten man.
