TOPIC: DEMS IN DISARRAY: Dems Trying To Figure Out New Leadership:
>> Schumer under pressure to add Sanders to leadership team. (The Hill/Alex Bolton) — Pressure is growing on Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) to back Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) as chairman of the Democratic Policy and Communications Center, a powerful position with influence over the party’s messaging and floor strategy. The top two elected positions, Senate Democratic leader and Senate Democratic whip, appear to be set. Schumer, who was in charge of the Senate Democratic messaging operation this year, will replace Sen. Harry Reid (Nev.) as leader, and Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin will likely keep his job as whip. Sanders’s allies say he would be a good choice for the third-ranking position because he had phenomenal success mobilizing voters during the Democratic presidential primaries. That showed he knows how to put together a message that resonates, they argue.
>> Pelosi delays House Democratic leadership vote until Nov. 30. House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi delayed this week’s planned vote on a leadership team until Nov. 30 amid disarray over the party’s worse-than-expected election results.
>> Keith Ellison makes DNC bid official, rolls out 40 endorsements. Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) on Monday formally launched his bid to become the next chairman of the Democratic National Committee, offering a show of strength by simultaneously releasing the endorsements of 40 elected officials, state party chairmen and labor leaders.Ellison’s name emerged as a likely candidate almost immediately after Hillary Clinton’s stunning loss last week to Republican President-elect Donald Trump.
