- Donald and Melania Trump Will Meet With Barack and Michelle Obama at the White House on Thursday. Donald Trump will visit the White House for the first time as president-elect on Thursday. The President-elect is set to meet with President Barack Obama in the Oval Office, according to a press schedule released by the White House on Wednesday. Meanwhile, First Lady Michelle Obama will be meeting with Melania Trump in the White House residence. Both meetings are closed to press. After Obama sits down with the 70-year-old reality TV star-turned-soon-to-be-commander-in-chief, the president will be meeting with the Cleveland Cavaliers on the White House’s South Lawn to congratulate the team on their 2016 NBA Championship. The president extended the invite during a phone call to his Republican successor on Wednesday, where he congratulated Trump on his victory over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. Their meeting is intended to update Trump in regards to the transition planning that the president’s team has been working on for some time.
- Obama will ask Trump to keep executive orders in place. (Washington Times) — President Obama has described Donald Trump as ignorant, dangerous and unfit to lead the nation, but he’ll ask the Republican president-elect Thursday not to wipe out his cherished, legacy-making executive actions on everything from the Iranian nuclear deal to Obamacare. In a meeting at the White House to prepare Mr. Trump for taking office, Mr. Obama will try to persuade the president-elect to honor what his aides call a “tradition” of preserving executive actions implemented by the departing chief executive. “There is a tradition, particularly with regard to executive agreements of successive presidents preserving some element of continuity,” said White House press secretary Josh Earnest. “I don’t know whether or not that will apply in this case. But as a part of this effective, smooth transition, President Obama will have an opportunity to talk to President-elect Trump about some of the benefits of these policies.”

5am – E Thousands across the USA protest Trump victory. NEW YORK – Protesters took to the streets Wednesday in at least 10 cities to march against president-elect Donald Trump – and numerous college students and faculty leaders took to social media to announce support groups and even postponed exams. Protests were underway in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington, D.C., Portland, Ore., St. Paul, Minn. and several other cities. An estimated 2,000 protesters shouted angrily in downtown Seattle, expressing their frustration at the Trump victory over Democrat and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who won 228 electoral votes to Trump’s 279. Police in riot gear struggled to hold back scores of protesters in some of the cities as protesters chanted “Not My President” and “No Racist USA.”
6am – A/B/C What Do You Say To Your ‘Never Trump’ Friends?
6am – D/E White House won’t rule out possible pardon for Hillary Clinton. (Washington Times) – The White House refused to rule out Wednesday whether President Obama might grant a pardon to Hillary Clinton to spare her from President-elect Donald Trump prosecuting her after he takes office. White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Mr. Obama is hopeful that Mr. Trump will follow long-standing tradition of not punishing political opponents through the criminal-justice system. He said all clemency actions go through a formal process, and that will remain in place until the end of Mr. Obama’s presidency in January. “The president has offered clemency to a substantial number of Americans who were previously serving time in federal prisons,” Mr. Earnest said. “We didn’t talk in advance about those decisions.” He said Mrs. Clinton “has worked very hard over a long period of time, and we owe her a major debt for her service to our country.” Mr. Earnest also said the president was encouraged by Mr. Trump’s “tone” in his victory speech early Wednesday, suggesting that the White House believes it’s an indication that Mr. Trump wouldn’t call for a prosecution of her when he takes office.

The tearful singer, who had appeared at Clinton rally during the campaign urging students to vote for the Democratic candidate, told her followers: “I’ve been very vocal for my support for everyone besides Donald Trump. Heavily supported Bernie. Heavily supported Hillary. “And I still think that in her lifetime she deserves to be the first female president. That’s what makes me so sad. “I just wish that she had that opportunity, because she’s fought for so long and because I believe her when she says that she loves this country. This is all she’s ever done. She’s given her life to make it better.” However, she also offered conciliatory words to Trump and his supporters, adding: “Happy hippies, we adjust and we accept everyone for who they are. And so Donald Trump, I accept you.
