WASHINGTON — (CNN) There were protests today on American University’s campus in relation to last night’s election results.
Students gathered at the Mary Graydon Center on campus and were burning flags. There were no attempts to shut the activities down.
“That’s part of freedom of expression,” Camille Lepre, Assistant Vice President of University Communications, said. “Some of our students are upset at the election decision and have come to our student center to express themselves, and were providing a safe space for them to do that,” Lepre said.
Public safety officers were on the scene, as well as faculty and staff to support students.
