5am – A         Redskins beat up Eagles’ defense on way to victory. Kirk Cousins threw for 263 yards and two touchdowns, the three-headed running attack of Matt Jones, Robert Kelley and Chris Thompson combined for 231 yards and a touchdown and the Redskins ran roughshod over the Philadelphia Eagles in a 27-20 victory on Sunday.

5am – B         North Carolina GOP office burned, graffiti sprayed nearby. HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. (AP) — A local Republican Party office in North Carolina was torched by a flammable device and someone spray-painted an anti-GOP slogan referring to “Nazi Republicans” on a nearby wall, authorities said Sunday. A bottle filled with flammable liquid was thrown through the window of the Orange County Republican Party headquarters overnight, according to a news release from the town of Hillsborough. The substance ignited and damaged the interior before burning out. No one was injured. On Sunday afternoon, the walls of the multi-room office were covered in black char, and a couch against one wall had been burned down to its springs. Shattered glass covered the floor, and melted campaign yard signs showed warped lettering. The news release from authorities said an adjacent building was spray-painted with the words: “Nazi Republicans leave town or else.” The graffiti had been covered in paint by late afternoon.

5am – C         Iraq Launches Offensive to Retake Mosul From ISIS Occupiers. The Iraqi army, directed by U.S. advisers, launched an offensive Sunday aimed at wresting Mosul from the hands of ISIS and ending its brutal two-year occupation. “The time has come for the greatest victory,” Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced late Sunday on state TV. “I announce the start of Liberating Mosul Operation, by the will of Iraqis, and after depending on Allah.” Al-Abadi said that ISIS would be “punished” for its crimes and that the province’s cities and villages will be rebuilt. “We will rebuild what those criminals have destroyed,” he said. “We will bring life back to Mosul and all other areas around Mosul.” In a statement, Secretary of Defense Ash Carter called the offensive a “decisive moment in the campaign to deliver [ISIS] a lasting defeat,” and Brett McGurk, the State Department official coordinating the effort against group, said it would liberate Iraqis from “two years of darkness.”

5am – D         Space News:

  • John Podesta emails encourage UFO buffs seeking declassification in a Clinton administration. If the truth is out there, John Podesta’s private email may provide a road map to find it. It’s no secret that the Hillary Clinton campaign chairman is a UFO buff, but the recent WikiLeaks dump of Mr. Podesta’s hacked account sheds new light on how deeply interested he is in extraterrestrial conspiracy theories.
  • Antares rocket launch from Wallops Island postponed. WALLOPS ISLAND, Va. (WVEC) — The launch of the Orbital ATK Antares rocket scheduled for Sunday night has been postponed. NASA Wallops Flight Facility reported on Facebook that the launch has been postponed 24 hours due to a ground support equipment cable that did not perform as expected during the pre-launch check-out. The launch is now scheduled for Oct. 17 at 7:40 p.m.
  • China to blast 2 astronauts into space on Monday. BEIJING (AP) — Chinese officials unveiled plans for Monday’s launch of the country’s latest space mission in which two astronauts will be blasted into space and will dock with an orbiting space lab. The Shenzhou 11 spacecraft will be launched at 7:30 a.m., said Wu Ping, deputy director of China’s manned space engineering office, in a televised news conference.

6am – E         CNN Host Claims It’s ILLEGAL For Public To View WikiLeaks Emails. (Daily Caller) — CNN’s Chris Cuomo told viewers it is illegal for them to possess emails leaked by the website WikiLeaks, and as a result they could not read them and had to rely entirely on the media to learn about their content. Cuomo’s comments were made early Wednesday morning, but they attracted no attention until a clip was uploaded to YouTube Sunday morning. In the clip, Cuomo opens a segment on leaked emails from Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta’s inbox by warning viewers they have to get all their information about the emails from the media, and nowhere else. If they try to check out the emails themselves, Cuomo warns, they’re breaking the law. “Also interesting is, remember, it’s illegal to possess these stolen documents,” Cuomo says. “It’s different for the media, so everything you’re learning about this, you’re learning from us.”

7am – A         INTERVIEW – JOE DIGENOVA – legal analyst and former U.S. Attorney to the District of Columbia – shared his thoughts on FBI agents coming out against Comey.

7am – B         2016 News:

  • North Carolina GOP office burned, graffiti sprayed nearby.
  • Pence says GOP ticket will ‘absolutely’ accept vote outcome. WASHINGTON (AP) — Mike Pence said Sunday he and Donald Trump will abide by “the will of the American people” on Election Day, and suggested that Trump’s claim of a ‘rigged” election stems from his belief the media is ganging up on him. “We will absolutely accept the results of the election,” Pence said in television interviews. He said Trump’s complaint, articulated from the campaign stage and across Twitter but without evidence, reflects fatigue with “the obvious bias in the national media. That’s where the sense of a rigged election goes here.” Not long after Pence said that, Trump partly undermined his comments. “The election is absolutely being rigged by the dishonest and distorted media pushing Crooked Hillary – but also at many polling places,” Trump tweeted. “SAD.”
  • Trump: “We should take a drug test” before debates, because “I don’t know what’s going on” with Hillary Clinton.

7am – C         Sports News:

  • Colin Kaepernick keeps attention away from inept 49ers. ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick answered question after question Sunday about crowd reaction toward him not standing for the national anthem and how he was treated, good or bad, before, during and after his first start this season. The social issues of how minorities are treated in the United States and Kaepernick’s controversial stance to help find solutions clearly superseded sports for these few moments. Yet, somehow, as Kaepernick stood in a tiny interview room in the bowels of New Era Field, I couldn’t help wondering how Kaepernick’s 49ers had just been embarrassed 45-16 by the Bills and how it seemed so immaterial.
  • Redskins beat up Eagles’ defense on way to victory. LANDOVER, Md. (AP) — Missing their biggest offensive target and facing one of the NFL’s top defenses, the Washington Redskins looked as in command as they’ve been all season.

  • Iraq Launches Offensive to Retake Mosul From ISIS Occupiers.

7am – E         Holiday News:

  • Target Removes Clown Masks From Stores, Website. BOSTON (CBS) – If you’re looking for a clown mask for Halloween, you won’t get it at Target. You can blame the creepy clown scare that’s been spreading across the nation. “We’ve removed clown masks from our stores and Target.com,” company spokeswoman Kristen Emmons said in an email to WBZ-TV Sunday. Police in several states have been dealing with threats and pranks linked to sightings of people in creepy clown masks.
  • Amazon set to hire 120000 seasonal workers. SEATTLE — Amazon.com says it plans to add 120,000 seasonal workers nationwide as it deals with a holiday scramble that becomes more intense every year for the world’s biggest online retailer. That target for temporary positions is 20 percent higher than last year, a sign of how more shoppers — and third-party merchants — are flocking to Amazon’s online platform. The fourth quarter hiring ramp-up is not unusual in the retail industry: It’s the biggest shopping season, after all, when a lot of retailers make most of their profits.
  • Malls are closing for Thanksgiving, but what about their stores? Customers’ frustration with retailers opening on Thanksgiving has reached a boiling point this season, with dozens of malls across the country closing for the holiday.  Consumers’ frustration with retailers opening their doors on Thanksgiving Day to launch their Black Friday sales has been building for several years. Now, the tide may finally be turning.  CBL & Associates to close 73 malls on Thanksgiving Day. Much is being made of CBL & Associates’ decision to close 73 of its 89 mall properties on Thanksgiving Day, especially as it comes on the heels of a similar announcement from Mall of America.  According to CNBC, the closures will give roughly 1,500 mall employees nationwide and between 750 and 2,000 retail employees per property the opportunity to spend Thanksgiving with their friends and families. Some rough math puts the estimated number of workers with the day off somewhere around 100,000.

8am – B         Entertainment News:

  • With Episode 600, ‘The Simpsons Approaches A 41-Year Old Record. Fox’s long-running animated powerhouse The Simpsons joins a very exclusive club of U.S. scripted primetime shows when its 600th episode, “Treehouse of Horror XXVII” airs.  How rare is this club? The only other scripted primetime show to reach 600 episodes is Gunsmoke, which ran for 20 seasons on CBS from 1955 to 1975.
  • Chris Rock Banks $40M Netflix Deal For His First Comedy Specials In 8 Years. Netflix just made comedian Chris Rock an offer he couldn’t refuse. With the promise of $40 million for two brand new comedy specials (yes, that’s $20 million a pop), Rock has made history and become the highest paid stand-up comic.  This is also the first time in eight years Rock has agreed to a gig like this. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the first show will be taped in 2017, following a new world tour that is reportedly in the works. “Chris Rock is a beloved actor and director, and his remarkable stand up makes him comic royalty,” Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said in a statement. “There is no one like him, and Netflix offers the global platform and creative freedom that will serve as a perfect home for someone with his incredible talent.”

8am – C         Montgomery County Maryland would sell off fossil-fuel investments under council members’ plan. (Washington Post) — Montgomery County’s employee pension fund would be ordered to divest an estimated $65 million in stock that it holds in fossil-fuel companies under legislation proposed by County Council members Roger Berliner and Nancy Navarro. The holdings represent a tiny fraction of the county’s $4 billion investment portfolio. But Berliner (D-Potomac-Bethesda) and Navarro (D-Mid-County) contend that the council has a moral and political obligation to shed its stake in oil, natural gas and coal companies. “Climate change is an existential threat to the entire planet,” the two members said Tuesday in a memo to council colleagues. “Its correlation with the companies principally responsible for creating climate change is direct.” After passing numerous bills and resolutions over the years that limit carbon emissions and promote clean energy, they said, the county “should not be investing in the very companies that undermine our commitment to sustainability.” If the measure passes, Montgomery County would become one of the largest localities in the nation to join the divestment movement organized by 350.org, the grass-roots organizing group founded by former New Yorker magazine writer Bill McKibben. A local affiliate, 350MoCo, has lobbied the council to address the issue.

8am – D         INTERVIEW — STEVE HAYES – a senior writer at The Weekly Standard, author of two New York Times bestsellers and a Fox News contributor

  • STEVE HAYES: Senior State Department official pressed FBI to change classification of emails stored on Hillary’s private server. An Attempted Hillary Email Coverup?  (Weekly Standard) – A senior State Department official repeatedly pressed the FBI to change the classification of emails stored on Hillary Clinton’s private server, according to FBI interview summaries set to be released in the coming days. Patrick Kennedy, the undersecretary of state for management, discussed providing additional overseas slots for the FBI in exchange for revisions to classifications of the sensitive emails. The 34 summaries, known as FBI “302s,” will be released in connection with a Freedom of Information Act request and after pressure from the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Two additional 302s are being withheld because they contain information classified at the Top Secret/SAP level. The summaries, described to THE WEEKLY STANDARD by five intelligence and congressional officials familiar with their contents, are sure to bolster Donald Trump’s criticism of corruption at Clinton’s State Department, the FBI and Washington, D.C., with just more than three weeks until the 2016 presidential election.

8am – E         ‘Saturday Night Live’ Parodies Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade’ With Melania and Ivanka Trump. Saturday Night Live reimagined Beyoncé’s Lemonade album film as a Melania Trump-centric parody titled Melanianade, in which the former model (portrayed by Cecily Strong) sings about how she’s fed up with her husband, Donald Trump (Alec Baldwin).  In the hilarious sketch, which was inspired by Queen Bey’s “Sorry” music video, Melania is joined by stepdaughters Ivanka Trump (Emily Blunt) and Tiffany Trump (Vanessa Bayer), as well as Donald’s campaign manager Kellyanne Conway (Kate McKinnon) and his “only black friend” Omarosa (Sasheer Zamata). Together, the five women express their anger with Donald amid his recent scandals, culminating in the numerous women who accused him of sexual misconduct earlier in the week. “Here lies my last nerve, Donald,” Melania says in the video, which aired on the Saturday, October 15, episode of the NBC comedy show. “I’ve stood by your side this whole campaign — your beautiful, dutiful Melania. I can’t take it anymore. … You’re breaking us, taking it for granted that we’ll always be there.”
