***UPDATE*** – 10 AM – From the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s office:

Today, District Court Judge Holly D. Reed, III, set the new status date for State v. Catherine Hoggle for 9 am on 12/12/16.

He stated for the record that the Clifton T. Perkins mental health facility report concluded that Ms. Hoggle continues to be “Not Competent” for trial and continues to be a danger to herself and others and should remain on a no bond status.

ROCKVILLE, Md. — (WMAL) It’s been two years since Catherine Hoggle’s young children, Sarah and Jacob, were last seen alive, and prosecutors are confident she is responsible for their disappearance. But up to now, doctors have determined Hoggle is not competent to stand trial on charges of neglect, obstruction of justice and hindering an investigation.

Medical professionals will return to a Rockville courtroom again Tuesday to provide Judge Eugene Wolfe with an update on the status of Hoggle’s mental health.

At the most recent hearing in June, Wolfe told prosecutors and defense attorneys that doctors’ reports indicated Hoggle was not yet competent, but they believed she someday could be.

Hoggle, who was the last to see her children before their disappearance, has been receiving treatment at the Clifton T. Perkins State Hospital in Jessup.

Her attorney, David Felsen, told reporters after the most recent hearing that “what we are dealing with are profound mental health issues here, so things change over the course of time. There may be a period of time when things are better and a period of time when things are worse and I think that is reflected in the report.”

Felsen says doctors continue to try different combinations of medications and therapies in an effort to restore Hoggle’s comptenence,

The children’s father, Troy Turner, has been a vocal advocate for his children, consistently calling on police and the FBI to step up efforts to find his children – dead or alive.
