  • BIO: Tim Lovain served on the Alexandria City Council from 2006 to 2009 and was returned to City Council by Alexandria voters in 2012. He uses his transportation expertise to help Alexandria and the region address our transportation challenges. The Councilman also focuses on environmental issues, cooperation with Alexandria’s nonprofit organizations, and the special needs of Alexandria’s young people and seniors. Before serving on City Council, Tim was the chair of the City Council’s Budget and Fiscal Affairs Advisory Committee. Tim serves as the Second Vice Chair of the Transportation Planning Board for the National Capital Region
  • Alexandria City Council votes to rename Jefferson Davis Highway. WASHINGTON — In a unanimous vote Saturday, the Alexandria City Council has decided to change the name of Jefferson Davis Highway, a roadway named for Jefferson Davis, the president of the Confederacy.  “I could honestly say, personally, raise my taxes to pay for it, to satisfy my parents, my grandparents,” Councilman Willie F. Bailey Sr. said. The council discussed the possibility of changing the name to Patrick Henry but tabled the discussion for later.
