WASHINGTON — (WMAL) Prince George’s County police are still seeking two suspects sought for the shooting at an off-duty Sheriff’s Deputy on July 24.

Police have already arrested one man, named as 18-year-old George Hunt. The accused was arrested July 31 after D.C. Police recognized him driving. However, officials believe there were two others involved in the shooting, and are seeking them out.

There has not been any indication that he was shot at because of his police affiliation, but it has not been ruled out completely. A spokesman with the Prince George’s County Police Department says that it’s still a concerning crime.

“It’s always troubling when you have someone who’s sort of minding their own business and then they’re approached, and then there’s a shootout,” said Lieutenant David Coleman of the Prince George’s Police Department. “You can imagine you’re standing there talking to a friend of your’s, and next thing you know, half second later, you’re in a shootout.”

While the department has yet to confirm, one running theory is that the motivation was robbery. If that is the case, perhaps the shooters should have chosen someone other than a Sheriff’s Deputy as their potential victim.
