Dog Dies After Being Left Inside Hot Car

WASHINGTON — (CNN) Police and fire personnel responded to a report of a dog that was locked inside of a vehicle on Monday, July 25.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and immediately determined that the dog was in distress.

The firefighters opened the vehicle and attempted to cool the dog off in hopes of helping it but were unsuccessful.

The firefighters then immediately took the dog, a 5-year-old Puggle, to the veterinarian’s office inside the PetSmart, where the dog was pronounced deceased.

The vehicle was located at the Petsmart at 6100 Arlington Boulevard.

The owner of the dog was identified as Megan Kurtz Campbell, 19, of Falls Church.

Campbell was arrested and charged with felony animal cruelty.
