WASHINGTON — (WMAL) As if you needed another reason to stay indoors.
The hottest weather of the year will bake the mid-Atlantic this weekend, and bring stagnant, nasty air into the region, making it tough to breathe, especially for those suffering from asthma or lung diseases, children and the elderly.
The National Weather Service has issued an Air Quality Alert for Friday for the entire Washington area, with temperatures in the mid 90’s expected through the weekend. Once you add in the humidity, Heat Index Values as high as 100 to 105 are possible.
Don’t expect a trip to the beach will save you from baking, either.
An Excessive Heat Watch is in effect through Monday afternoon for the Delaware and New Jersey beaches, with highs on Saturday in the upper 90’s and Heat Index Values of 105.
