WASHINGTON — (WMAL) General Mills Inc. has recalled some flavors of Betty Crocker cake mixes as an addition to a list of recalled items.
The recall is the result of a serious outbreak of E. coli.
The products were sold at Giant Food Stores.
The recall has already affected products such as Gold Medal All Purpose Flour, Gold Medal Wondra Flour and Gold Medal Self-Rising Flour, adding the Betty Crocker cake mixes to the list.
The affected Betty Crocker products include two flavors of cake mix sold in the United States, and one flavor sold in Canada.
They are:
- Betty Crocker Delights Super Moist Party Rainbow Chip Cake Mix. Package UPC 000-16000-40997 Recalled Better if Used by Dates25MAR2017, 28MAR2017, 27APR2017, 28APR2017, 23MAY2017, 24MAY2017, 25MAY2017
- Betty Crocker Delights Super Moist Carrot Cake Mix. Package UPC 000-16000-40987 Recalled Better if Used by Dates 12APR2017, 13APR2017, 14APR2017, 28MAY2017, 29MAY2017, 30MAY2017, 07JUL2017, 08JUL2017
The Canadian product is:
- Betty Crocker Super Moist Rainbow Bit Cake Mix. Package UPC 000-65633-46589. Recalled Better if Used by Dates 27AL2017, 08JN2017, 09JN2017
General Mills stated that so far there has been no illnesses that have been connected to the cake mixes.
The company also stated that it is recalling the products out of caution due to the flour involved.
Consumers are asked not to consume raw dough or batter products via the advice of the Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control.
